WORKING HOURS & TELEPHONE COURTESY:

Carter & Carter typically operates between the hours of 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Field Office hours of operations will be mandated by the Project Manager. While working hours may vary in order to complete assigned tasks, employees are generally expected to work nine hour days with an unpaid hour for lunch.

A large portion of our business is conducted by telephone, making telephone courtesy very important. A voice on the telephone is often the only contact a caller will remember. The office telephones are answered from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. During lunch hours the phone should be placed on the after-hours answering system. Employees should be courteous, patient, pleasant, helpful and identify themselves when answering the telephone and greeting visitors to our offices. Please consult your supervisor or job description for your specific lunch schedule and responsibilities, if any, in regards to phone coverage.

INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS:

It is the Company’s policy to remain open during normal business hours. When weather conditions become severe and advisories to return home are broadcast, employees may be notified by their supervisor to leave work and will be paid as though they had completed a full work day.

If an employee is unable to report to work, due to extreme weather conditions, such absences need to be reported in advance to your supervisor. The payment of this excused absence will be dealt with on a case by case basis.

SAFETY AND SECURITY:

The safety of our employees is a major consideration. We have a sincere desire to provide a safe working environment. Every reasonable effort will be made to eliminate or control causes of job accidents, fire exposure, and occupational hazards.

Employees are asked to be aware of their safety at all times both in and out of our building. When the office and building are closed, each employee should lock the doors when entering and leaving. All entry doors should be locked by 6:00 p.m. and at all times on weekends. The security system should be armed by the last person leaving the building.

On the Carter & Carter job sites safety is especially important due to the nature of the work conducted and the high traffic flow. All job site personnel need to consult their field manual for specific job site safety procedures.

THEFT:

You are responsible for your personal property and Company property entrusted to your care. Always report any theft. If an unfamiliar person appears in your work area, determine whether he/she has a legitimate reason for being there. If so direct them to the appropriate party. If you become suspicious, notify your supervisor immediately.

All incidences of theft will be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law.

SMOKING:

Carter & Carter has established each of its facilities as a smoke free environment for the health and well-being of employees and customers. Employees that smoke are asked to recognize the needs and wishes of nonsmokers. Smoking is not allowed in any part of the office, or in the field offices & facilities of Carter & Carter-owned or managed properties. While smoking is allowed outside the building away from entrances during work break periods, it is sanitarily and environmentally unsound to deposit cigarette butts in the yard areas. Please be responsible and dispose of these properly.
