POLICY: Path to Power

PURPOSE: Establish a written process of required steps to achieve permanent power to each building.

RESPONSIBILITY: Superintendent/Project Manager

PROCEDURE: Superintendent (in conjunction with PM as necessary) should utilize the guidelines below to develop a site specific written plan of action to achieve Permanent Power to each building. This plan will be documented in Procore for other team members to review. The template below will serve as a guideline only, as all jurisdictions are different and requirements may vary.

Pre-Construction
1. PM will coordinate with Electrical Contractor to get electrical gear submittals approved by EOR.
2. PM to coordinate with Electrical Contractor to establish and communicate in writing to the Superintendent, lead times for all switch gear and power equipment.
3. PM to coordinate with the owner to ensure finalized design with power company. Establish clear timeline for design completion and convey potential schedule impacts that may occur as a result of failure to achieve established dates.

Construction
1. PM to coordinate with owner to ensure all accounts have been set up for temporary power and unit power.
2. Superintendent to schedule meeting with Power company to review requirements for setting transformers and pull primary wires. (i.e. as-builts surveyed for transformer conduit locations.)
3. Superintendent to schedule coordination meeting with Electrical Contractor and inspection department. This includes all jurisdictions. Goal is to clearly establish requirements to achieve unit power. (i.e. door locks, panels and breakers made up, what outlets and fixtures need to be installed. Do all exterior fixtures and disconnects need to be installed?)
4. Supervision team to ensure all main electrical rooms can be locked. (Keeping the public safe)
5. Building address to be clearly marked. Unit signage (temporary or permanent) must be in place. Coordinate with AHJ to determine any other signs that may be required.
